Biomechanics Assessment & Sports Injury Clinic London
London’s leading Biomechanics Assessment, in partnership with Biomotion London
What is Biomechanics?
A biomechanical assessment is an examination of the lower limb in gait motion. The foot is a highly complex organ which is composed of 28 bones and 214 ligaments. During the assessment we look at the overall mechanics of your foot and prescribe different treatment options to create optimum function and alleviate any pain.
We acknowledge the importance of using a more holistic approach and seeing the body as a whole, not just focusing on the feet.
To understand what biomechanics is, we simply need to break down the term into two parts. The word ‘Bio’ is a shortened version of the word ‘biology’ and the term ‘mechanics’ refers to the functional movement of something. Biomechanics refers to the study of human functional movement, in this case specifically the study of the lower limb. Biomechanics is a very broad spectrum term and covers many conditions within podiatry.
For patients looking for assessment and treatment of foot, ankle and lower limb pain, our musculoskeletal podiatry service provides specialist care with Lauren, our BSc Podiatry qualified podiatrist with a sports injury background.
Finchley Foot Clinic is recognised as one of London’s leading biomechanics and podiatry clinics. We help runners, athletes and everyday patients overcome pain through evidence based assessment and treatment.

Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Pain
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of persistent heel pain. The way your feet and lower limbs move can contribute to increased stress through the plantar fascia, which is why understanding the underlying biomechanics can be an important part of treatment.
At Finchley Foot Clinic, we can assess your foot function and movement to identify factors that may be contributing to your symptoms and develop a personalised treatment approach.
